This 190,000 sq.ft., special event arena and conference center can host a variety of meetings and conventions. The basketball court’s arena seating accommodates 7,000 patrons and offers a venue for high school competition and graduation ceremonies. The hospitality room and ballroom can accommodate 600 people each, the multimedia lecture room can accommodate 250 people and the meeting room can accommodate 500 people, allowing for three or four events to be held simultaneously. The facility has two 520-ton, water-cooled centrifugal chillers with VFDs for energy efficient production of chilled water. The conference level (offices, ballroom, training room and locker rooms) are served by two medium-pressure, variable volume air handling units that deliver air to VAV and fan-powered terminal boxes with hot water heating coils.
This 46,500 sq. ft., 3 floor educational facility houses the campus main library along with classrooms, teaching labs and a conference center. The ARC is part of a master plan development of the campus in which Blum Consulting Engineers continues to participate.
UT – Taylor Hall
This 163,000 sq. ft., 5 floor, plus basement, building for the Applied Computational Engineering Services includes building services area, Ticam equipment lab, 200 seat auditorium, private faculty offices, open offices, various lab areas and video conference rooms.
Texas A&M – Foundation Building
College Station, Texas
This 53,000 sq. ft., 2 floor facility, plus basement, contains more than 80 private offices, two conference rooms and four meeting rooms for management of the University’s fund raising efforts. The building is designed with a dedicated mechanical central plant and an under floor air distribution system to enhance the interior aesthetics of “Donor Hall”.
Townview Center Magnet School
This 370,000 sq. ft., 3 floor magnet high school (combined 6 high schools) for 2,800 students has an Ice Thermal Storage system with circulating low temperature glycol/water mixture. This “partial storage” system is designed to allow reduction of “on peak” building demand by shifting a portion of the cooling energy requirements to “off peak” hours.
University of Houston
This 285,000 sq. ft., 2 floor recreation and events facility includes multi-court and center court gymnasiums, a 70- meter competitive pool, racquetball and squash courts, an indoor soccer court, an elevated indoor running track and a multi-purpose training/fitness area. Special occasion events and receptions are held in the facility’s rotunda.
University of Illinois
Campus Recreation Center East Building (CRCE) – This 108,000 sq.ft. facility includes a new 2-story building with basketball and racquetball courts, indoor leisure swimming pool, fitness/exercise area, indoor running track and administration offices. Additional renovation and upgrade to an existing natatorium, weight lifting/exercise room and basketball courts were also done.
UNT – Gateway Center
This 100,000 sq. ft. facility consists of administration offices, classrooms and conference centers. The Gateway Building is connected to a classroom wing, which has a 7,800 sq. ft. ballroom and a full service kitchen. A dedicated 400-ton chilled water central plant serves both buildings.
